Product Characteristics

The razor clam is a bivalve mollusc with an elongated, tubular shell, featuring smooth and narrow valves that end in fine points resembling a razor blade. The shell colour ranges from white to light beige, sometimes with subtle brownish tones. It lives buried vertically in sandy seabeds, with only the siphon tips visible, allowing it to filter water to feed on phytoplankton and suspended organic matter.

Highly valued in Portuguese cuisine, the razor clam is prized for its delicate flavour and firm texture, making it ideal for grilling, stews or simply boiled. Its filter-feeding nature and natural habitat impart a fresh, clean taste with gentle marine notes, making it a versatile and sought-after ingredient.
